Before & After
Can You Get It Right First Time?
Having designed over 50,000 slides over the years, and worked with countless teams in different companies and industries, I can tell you from my firsthand experience that it’s extremely rare that you get the design right first time for your slide deck.
In the same way that professional writers produce countless drafts for their screenplays or novels, creating a slide show is no different. It can take several rounds of editing to get it right, as you continually tweak what you’ve produced or come up with new ideas altogether.
As you critique your slides, the key question to ask is, “How can this slide look better?” As you look through the following examples, you can clearly see the difference between the Before and After slides. Some changes are dramatic, while others are more subtle.
Cast a critical eye over the Before slides, and see if you can correctly identify what’s wrong with it or how it could look better. The main things to look for are changes in direction, addition of imagery, formatting changes and improvements to the overall look and feel.
